Over the years, I have observed a remarkable shift inwomen’s awareness of their physical and emotional well-being. When I started mypractice 15 years ago, many female patients primarily sought consultation forcosmetic concerns or joint pain. Upon deeper inquiry, ?I often found that theseissues were linked to peri- or premenopausal symptoms-Yet most were unaware ofthe connection.

Today, thanks to increased education and the widespread reachof social media, more women recognize these symptoms and actively seeksolutions to improve their quality of life. This growing awareness marks asignificant and positive change in women’s health, empowering them to takecharge of their well-being.

A MEMORABLE CASE FROM APRIL 2011:

One morning in April 2011, as I settled into my clinic forthe day, a woman in her late 40s walked in. She appeared visibly exhausted, slightly breathless, and emotionally drained. After making her comfortable, Ibegan taking her history.

She belonged to an orthodox Rajasthani family, married in here early 20s, and was a mother to two sons and a daughter- all of whom werenow married. Having lost her husband two years prior, she found herself feelinglonely and insecure, despite living in a joint family with her sons, daughterin law, and grandchildren. While her family cared for her, she struggled withan unexplained emptiness, persistent fear, and frequent bouts of crying for noapparent reason.

Her emotions fluctuate- some days, she longed for solitude, while on others, she desperately sought companionship. Once known for her sociable nature, she now withdrew from conversations and family gatherings. She couldn’t understand why she no longer felt like herself. Though she missed her husband, she had initially coped well with his passing. However, more recently, she noticed irregular menstrual cycles, persistent fatigue, and an increasing inability to carry out daily tasks. Sleepless nights further exacerbated her emotional distress, leaving her overwhelmed and unsure of what was happening to her.

After listening to her concerns and providing in-depthcounseling for nearly an hour and a half, I prescribed appropriate homoeopathicmedicine along with Bach flower remedies to help stabilize her acute emotionalturmoil.

Fifteen days later, she returned for a follow-up, appearingnoticeably calmer and more at ease. She greeted me with a smile-the first signof relief. Her first words were, “I felt 70% better just after speaking withyou during our first consultation.” She shared that no one had ever listened to her so patiently and without judgement. That night, for the first time sinceher husband’s passing, she was able to sleep peacefully.

With her emotional distress easing, her appetite hadimproved, and she now wanted to focus on managing her weight. At this stage, Iintroduced Biochemic medicines to address her calcium and iron deficiencies, alongside tailored dietary recommendations to support her body through thepremenopausal phase.

She continued her treatment for the next six months andexperienced remarkable transformation in her overall well-being. Eventually, she began consulting me for routine health concerns, and over time, her entirefamily placed their trust in me for their healthcare needs.

This case beautifully illustrates the profound impact of aholistic approach to health-one that nurtures both the body and mind withcompassionate care.
